Kids texting you, mom, school is on lockdown. Reporter her daughter, a freshman at milpitas high school, told by teachers to shelter inside. Police were called, reporting a gun was on campus. I was really scared because he could have shot anyone if he was mad. Reporter sky fox was there shortly after. Pomeroy elementary and russell middle schools were placed on lockdown. Officers found the student. He did have a handgun on his person. He was very cooperative. He did not resist arrest. Monday a student at Village High School in pleasanton was arrested after he brought a loaded gun. On tuesday at twin creeks elementary in san ramon, an 8yearold brought a loaded gun, showing it to other students. His father is now under arrest, facing several charges including child endangerment. At milpitas high, police would not say how the teenager got the gun. Some say they want schools to be more involved. Someone jumping over the entrance gate getting onto bart for free. But the board of directors for bart says they are trying to do something about it. They unanimously voted last night on two ordinances to fight this problem and punish fare evaders. Beginning next year, officers will be hired to board bart trains and ask every person for proof of purchase. If you cant provide one, you will be charged 75 the first time, minors will be charged 55. Three strikes will lead to a criminal charge. Frustrated bart riders who pay their fare hope this will force change. The guy just, like, hopped through the emergency exits, didnt even pay and just got on the train. Attendants dont do anything. Reporter 75 of barts operating costs come from people who follow the rules and pay. Officials think it will bring back 8 to 11 million each year.
