Police department was driving solo on her shift in east oakland on saturday night when she got into an accident at the intersection of 73rd and weld street, but the real danger came from a person on the sidewalk. Following the collision, a person walked up to her car and began shooting into the police vehicle. Reporter kimi carter heard the car crash from his house. I poked my head out and saw the police car was on the corner, and it hit the signal button, and then you can just hear a gun shot, and i guess whoever the person was, the person shot at a the squad car and took off running. Reporter Oakland Police say the suspect fired multiple rounds at the officer, and she fortunately was not struck by gunfire. We believe it was unprovoked. There was no Actual Exchange or interaction between the suspect that did the shooting and the officer.
