Bathroom of the first floor unit. There were five adults and one child in the building all got out safely. But neighbors say what they heard and saw was frightening. The whole house shook on the foundation. It was one hell of a blast. And it just was completely engulfed in flames. Black smoke. There were a few parents who had to run out with their babies. No clothes on. We went and brought them blankets and things like that. Really heard people screaming and crying because they didnt know what was going on. Reporter this man who lives in the unit that burned became extremely upset about nothing being allowed back inside his home to save his pet cat named chipmunk. But the battalion chief went into the home and found the cat under a sofa. They brought him out and gave him asthma medication. Im told hes fire. Heat tomorrow because thats the next story. How hot is it going to get tomorrow. Where are those 100s going to be. And the fog is working its way back in. And the bicyclists of the amgen put up with the heat today. Firefighters were worried about the dry brush and grass. But were also working crowd control. Were worried about people that have sun exposure. Maybe not drinking enough water. Maybe have a medical condition earlier this afternoon. Reporter the mercury rose and that drew thousands of people to the beaches. We go to David Stevenson who says theres safety concerns over the next hour. Reporter the crowds will continue to grow at San Franciscos stinson beach. A life guard told me earlier theres there was no need for rescues today. Hundreds came out to hit the surf or just lay in the sand. We got in the waves and cooled off a bit. Reporter others had ice cream. Or a few laps in the local pool.
