Now demanding people wearing a masks. If we could get everybody to wear a mask right now i really do think the next six, eight weeks we could get this under control. Many still refusing. Doesnt make sense. Why are we Wearing Masks to be outside . The amount of people who think they dont need to do something is enormous. President trump continuing to deny the reality on the ground as states like georgia set new case records. Georgias been a great example of a state thats done it all right. And demanding schools reopen, despite the risk. We have to reopen the schools. Get them open. When he says open, he means open the schools. Science does not stand in the way of it. Why does the u. S. Trail the industrialized world in controlling the virus . Are things about to get worse . And what can we do now to emerge from the crisis . Plus, the passing of an american hero. Got to do something. Remembering john lewis, civil rights leader, congressman and and the conscience of a nation. Welcome to s
Before i begin, lets call the meeting to order. Before we begin to take just a moment to say that our thoughts and prayers go out to those who have been impacted over the past few days by hurricane irma. Of course, we continue to keep those suffering from the effects of Hurricane Harvey in our thoughts and prayers as well. These have truly been horrific events, and i hope and pray for the safety of everyone involved. I join with my colleagues in the commitment to doing all we can to assist our citizens who are in need at this extremely difficult time. We will see what we can do to help alleviate some of the pain. Now, the hearing were having today will come to order. 20 years ago senator ted kennedy and i came together to create the Childrens Health Insurance Program, or chip, in order to provide Health Corner for Vulnerable Children and family who were too poor to afford private coverage but still didnt qualify for medicaid. 20 years ago we were at something of a crossroads. In the meeting he urged gop lawmakers to vote on a bill linking Hurricane Harvey aid to the debt ceiling increase. The congressman spoke about the tone of the meeting which occurred before lawmakers voted to approve the bill. Heres a look. Some people feel it was intellectually insulting. No. So they came over today. Thats the frustration. Put it on paper. Where is

Good morning lee. Good morning tom and chris. Delighted to be with you. Go ahead, tom. Is great to have you. Most of you dont know its a very modest man and held a staff together and helped get that report. Thank you chris very much. I think that we thought there would still be a terrorist threat. We were smart enough to predict how it would happen, the extent of it, geographically ideologically or anything else. I think we thought it would and i might say before we started any program we paid tribute to the families.
