The third hour of today in the bay continues right now. Good friday morning to you. Im kris sanchez here for Marcus Washington. Boy, wasnt it nice to see his smile . Oh, yes. Were going to have him a little later in this hour as well. Im laura garcia. Before we get to weather right now i want to tell you about a small earthquake that hit the north bay this morning. A 3. 3 magnitude quake hit about 5 00 a. M. It was about 13 miles north of healdsburg. No reports of injuries or damage so far. But what a way to wake up at least for those folks. And yesterday we were waking up to pounding rain across the bay area. Kari has a look at our forecast right now. That rain is getting lighter. This storm system is moving out but it was impressive. Now as we take a look at storm ranger, we are catching a break for much of the bay area. Still some lingering showers down around gilroy as well as around the napa area over toward Solano County. Weve seen some of the showers that are now starting to mov
Tracking that and the weekend forecast. Weve been dying to get out for a little walk, kari. Its been rough. Yeah. We can do that now that the sun has come back out. And we can see from our live camera from san jose, its be a beautiful morning now. Few lingering showers outside the sacramento valley, widening out the view to see what else is out there, the next storm is right there off our coast and will be moving in, starting in the north bay by tomorrow. So, as we look at how much rain we measured, this was huge. A lot of us got more rain with this one storm than we did all season long up to this point. And getting over 10 inches of rain at the santa cruz summit. Morgan hill from this one storm reaching six inches of rain. Fremont, redwood city, reacing over two inches of rain. Were seeing two inc san jose. Oakley reaching over 2 inches of rain. So now that we are getting a chance to let all of that soak in, temperatures are still pretty cool. And were going to only see it reach into

Bob redell is live for us in livermore. I know it looks like Alameda County could pull the trigger ahead of the order on the rest of the bay area. Reporter correct. Even though icu bed capacity here in Alameda County at 30 , the Health Department says it might order new shelterinplace order preemptively to preserve that capacity and to save lives. If and when this order goes into effect it will last three weeks and among other things would shut down indoor and Outdo

A cold one again . Yeah, its cold and its foggy, so were seeing the combination of two things well have to deal with heading out the door this morning. This is a live look outside in san jose and for the most part weve seen the visibility looking a little bit better near the ground level in the south bay but higher up weve seen some of those low clouds rolling by. We will see this clearing out for a mild day and theres still dry weather in the forecast, so well talk about that coming up. Mike, how is it looking as a lot of people deal with the foggy conditions for the commute . Well, kari, chp has two Traffic Alerts going on right now and one is near a foggy area over my shoulder. You see the yellow highlighting. Ive circled 121 which is closed for a crash up there in sonoma. No mention of fog in that
In napa and clear lake and weve seen cold temperatures elsewhere as well. Well continue to watch that as well as the fog. How is it looking for the commute . Things are changing right now. We do have that deadly crash at camino diablo. Fog registering in the south bay. The metering lights just turned on before 6 00. Quickly filled in all of these lanes right here and a bigger factor looking at the oakland camera with that fog. The low clouds creeping down across the nimitz, the peninsula, south bay and east bay. Stay with us. Well give you updates. Back to you. Thank you very much. We begin with the rising number of covid patients. Today in the bays Cierra Johnson live in San Francisco this morning monitoring the already overloaded hospitals.
