The fires there are raging. Firefighters are working around the clock. Theyre trying to get six wildfires under control. At least four other fires are now fully contained. Good news there. Thats the good news, right. More than 1,000 firefighters, though, are battling all of the blazes around san diego. Police have now charged heres big news overnight one of three people arrested for alleged arson. They have brought a charge here. So far, though, more than 27,000 acres have been scorched. This morning, firefighters are making some progress, but theyre not in the clear yet, because strong winds and dry temperatures, they could fuel the fires even further. Morning, its thursday, august 18th im frances rivera. We begin with the blue cut wild fire that is continuing to burn out of control. It forced more than 82,000 people about 60 miles east of los angeles to evacuate. The fire ignited only Tuesday Morning and has ballooned in size to roughly 40 square miles. Its only about 4 contained. Almost 1,600 fire personnel are on hand battling the blaze. Veteran firefighters say they simply never seen anything like it. The fuels are extremely dry, very explosive this time of year. In my 40 years of fighting fire, ive never seen fire behavior so extreme as i did yesterday.
