MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) During these unprecedented times amid the pandemic, many have lost jobs. But one industry is experiencing an increase in demand: In-home caregiving.
Helping seniors with tasks that enable them to remain at home comfortably, one of the many missions of in-home care.
Home care can involve treatment by medical professionals, but the largest aspect involves assisting people with daily tasks.
From personal care, prepping meals, running errands and providing companionship.
The need, greater amid the pandemic.

MORTON, Minn. (KEYC) â Authorities announced Tuesday that they believe foul play was not involved in the recent death of a 21-year-old man.
The Ramsey County Medical Examinerâs Office completed its autopsy of Quincy Schaffer on Tuesday and determined hypothermia was a contributing factor in his death. The autopsy found no significant physical injuries that would indicate assault or other cause of death.

NICOLLET COUNTY, Minn. (KEYC) The Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that it is investigating a string of thefts from mailboxes.
Authorities say individuals were seen Monday in a black sedan passenger vehicle taking mail from mailboxes. Several pieces of mail have been recovered belonging to residents in Nicollet, Sibley, McLeod and Steele counties.
They add that it appears these subjects are targeting mail containing personal checks or cash.

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) â Minnesota State University, Mankatoâs Department of Dental Education is now taking appointments for its âGive Kids A Smileâ event next week.
The event takes place Thursday, Feb. 4, and offers free dental services for those 18 and younger, including cleanings, x-rays, and exams.
The exams will be done at the public dental clinic in the Clinical Sciences Building on campus.
Appointments are required for the event.

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) â The Mankato East-Loyola boysâ hockey program owns a 3-and-1 record to start the 2021 season, as the team looks to defend the Section 1A title.
The Cougars returned their senior core - Layten Liffrig, Jacob Schreiber, JD Kragh, Brett Borchardt and Hayden Guillemette - who helped lead the team to obtain two section titles in three years, along with a state tournament appearance last year.
âLast year we talked about, after we won the section championship, super hard to win a section championship with five forwards and two or three defensemen,â Head Coach Adam Fries said.
