On Thursday, the Renville County Historical Society held a presentation on the Battle of Birch Coulee, which took place on Sept. 2 and 3, 1862. It was the bloodiest battle of the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862, claiming the lives of nearly 20 U.S. soldiers and at least two Dakota warriors. Many more were injured on both sides.

(KEYC) — Authorities announced Tuesday that they believe foul play was not involved in the recent death of a 21-year-old man. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office completed its autopsy of Quincy Schaffer on Tuesday and determined hypothermia was a contributing factor in his death. The autopsy found no significant physical injuries that would indicate assault or other cause of death.
