NORTH MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development hosted a roundtable-style meeting Wednesday to discuss health care.
Minnesota health care employers, educators, organizations and employees were all present in this meeting, held via Microsoft Teams to talk about the Minnesota economy and health care employment opportunities. Some leaders in these groups shared what they are doing to help promote employment in the health care field.
“The challenges in front of us from a workforce perspective are too big for any single organization or nonprofit or agency to tackle alone so those partnerships and when I think of those I think of the apprenticeship program,” said Brent Bultema, senior director of talent solutions at CentraCare.

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) â Gov. Tim Walz has released his $52.4 billion two-year budget proposal.
Walz has proposed raising taxes on the wealthiest Minnesotans and large companies to help bridge a $1.28 billion gap. He also proposed an increase in spending on education, measures to support working families and proposals on helping the state recover from the Coronavirus pandemic.
The governor told Minnesotans not to believe talk of seeing an income tax increase.
âIncome tax that weâre talking about will get .7 percent of the population, 99.3 percent of people will not see that. In fact, over a million families will see a cut in that,â he said.

LE CENTER, Minn. (KEYC) Hardy Wills-Traxler faced charges of First Degree Arson and Second Degree Murder in Le Sueur County District Court Tuesday afternoon.
Court documents show new details about what happened Sunday morning.
At 7:15 a.m. Sunday, emergency services were dispatched to Hunting Preserve Lane, where a shed fully engulfed in flames was discovered. The blaze was reported by the victim’s brother, Jefferey, who tried to enter the burning shed but was overcome by smoke and flames.
