COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals girls softball team split their non-conference doubleheader to Gull Lake on Tuesday night as they won the opener 4-3 but dropped the nightcap 15-9.
Mia Rzepka belted a two-run homer which put the Cardinals ahead for good in the first game. Rzepka also had a double.
Karlie Knisley also doubled for the Cardinals while Brooklyn Cary tripled.
Alexis Bills went the distance in the circle and was the winning pitcher for Coldwater as she struck out ten and allowed five hits.
Jayla Foster homered for Coldwater in fourth inning of the second game.
The Cardinals are 1-3 overall and open conference play at home on Thursday against Hastings.
BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – It was another tough night for the Coldwater Lady Cardinals as they lost at Parma Western 42-18 in an Interstate 8 girls basketball game at Parma.
The Panthers took another step towards the conference title with the win. They are 10-0 in the Interstate 8 and lead Jackson Northwest by two games with three conference games left.
They never let Coldwater get into Tuesday’s game as they built leads of 10-5 after the first quarter and 24-11 at halftime. They outscored the Cardinals 18-7 in the second half. Jayla Foster led Coldwater with six points while Allison Miller had four points, six rebounds and three steals and Brooke Moore had four points and three steals. Parma Western also won the freshman game 39-19. There was no junior varsity game played.

JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s Lady Cards lost their second consecutive nail biter 36-34 at Lumen Christi on Tuesday night as Lumen Christi pulled out the victory by scoring six straight points in the final two minutes.
Coldwater had a seven point lead at the half but the Titans were able to knot the score at 27 going into the final stanza.
The Cards were up 33-30 with just over two minutes to go before the Titans had their game-winning rally.
Mia Rzepka led Coldwater with 11 points and five assists. Anna DeMeester added eight points and Jayla Foster grabbed eight rebounds.
