ACC Championships Preview: Jumps As the 2021 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships draw near, we’ll provide a preview of what to expect from each event group while also reviewing their excellent achievements during the first six meets of the season.  The high-flying jumpers of Clemson track and field are ready to soar into the 2021 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships after putting together a season of consistency and success throughout the regular season. Anthony Hamilton will take to the men’s high jump with lofty expectations after securing two victories in the event, along with three additional top-5 finishes, throughout the 2021 campaign. Hamilton has consistently cleared 2.10 meters (6 feet, ten and three-quarter inches) this season and will enter Thursday’s competition with sizable momentum after logging two quality weeks of training with assistant coach Chris Bostwick.

Tigers Conclude Regular Season With Stellar Saturday Showing

CLEMSON, S.C. – Laurie Barton and Trishauna Hemmings proved once again on Saturday why they are two of the nation’s best athletes, as each recorded top-5 all-time marks at Clemson during the final day of the Tiger Paw Invitational. Barton who entered the day already the No. 4 performer at Clemson in the women’s 800 meters ran 2:03.91 to set a new personal best since transferring to Clemson. Hemmings ran the 200m for the first time in her career and became the No. 5 performer on Clemson’s all-time list after crossing the line in 23.28. Hemmings’s time produced a third overall standing on Saturday and placed her within the top 10 nationally.

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Laurie Barton took the lead from the gun in the women’s 1k on Friday night and never looked back, as the redshirt-senior from Clemson left the competition in her wake while setting a new school record of 2:42.51 in the event. Barton’s time places her in a tie for 12th on the collegiate all-time indoor list and makes her the third-fastest woman ever from the ACC. Clemson’s previous record for the women’s 1k was 2:43.03 set by Natoya Goule in 2015. Later that season, Goule would go on to capture the NCAA Indoor 800-meter title, setting the school record in the event by running 2:01.64.  

Tigers Travel to Blacksburg for Hokie Invitational

Clemson, S.C. The Clemson track and field program will compete in its first away meet of the season on Jan. 22-23, as the team travels to Virginia Tech to compete in the Hokie Invitational. The two day meet will see the Tigers compete against seven programs, with six hailing from the ACC. “This meet is a continuation of what we started this year back on Jan. 9. This is going to be the stiffest competition we have faced so far this season,” said Director of Track and Field Mark Elliott. “We have to focus on ourselves and hopefully our athletes can keep progressing in the direction that we want them to be at when it comes time for Championships.” The Hokie Invitational will see a steady flow of Clemson competitors, as the Tigers have a quality list of entries throughout the meet.
