Report says Dy. Chairman ‘spontaneously’ occupied presiding officer’s chair
Legislative Council Chairman K. Prathapchandra Shetty is on Monday learnt to have directed the formation of a special legislature committee, led by senior JD(S) MLC Maritibbe Gowda, to probe into the pandemonium in the Council on December 15.
The formation of the committee follows Council Secretary K.R. Mahalakshmi’s report to the Chairman, submitted three days ago, that said S.L. Dharme Gowda, Deputy Chairman of the Council, “spontaneously” occupied the chair to conduct the session, which witnessed Mr. Dharme Gowda being pulled from the Chairman’s seat over a row related to the no-confidence motion sought to be moved against the Council chairman. Chikkamagalur: In a shocking late night development, Karnataka Legislative Council Deputy Chairman
S.L. Dharme Gowda (65) allegedly died by suicide after leaving a death note. The JD(S) Legislator was found dead on a Railway track near Gunasagara in Kadur taluk of Chikkamagalur, his home district.
Confirming the news, top sources said that they are probing the case for more details. According to them, his body was found around 2 am in the wee hours of today. Police said, “The matter is under investigation. There was a death note recovered from the site but we cannot give out details of what’s in it.”

Karnataka Legislative Council Deputy Chairman S L Dharme Gowda was found dead on a rail track in Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka in the early hours of Tuesday, with police sources claiming he died by suicide.
The body was found on a rail track near Gunasagara in Kadur taluk, they said.
Dharme Gowda, 64, who was an MLC from JD(S), is survived by his wife, son and a daughter. His brother, S L Bhoje Gowda, is also an MLC.
According to sources, Gowda had left his farmhouse at Sakharayapattana in a private car on Tuesday evening but did not return home, following which his family members and staff started searching for him.
