A Charleston man charged in a 2021 stabbing pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
Michael Fleming Jr., 40, was charged with murder in the May 2021 stabbing of his fiancée, Virginia Bradford, 34.
A former Charleston police officer has filed a lawsuit against former Charleston Police Chief James “Tyke” Hunt, alleging Hunt engaged in sexual activity with her when he was her superior.
Attorneys representing the officer, Chelsea McCoy, filed the suit earlier this month in Kanawha County Circuit Court.
Seven tenants are already prepared to move into the 27-unit 1030 Lofts in the old Food Among the Flowers building on the corner of Quarrier Street and Leon Sullivan Way in Charleston, West Virginia. Jennifer Pharr, director for leasing and property management for Riggs Commercial Realty, said demand for the space is high. She anticipates tenants can move in in April 2024. The 31,827-square-foot building is owned by St. Albans-based SQP Construction and Brian Wishneff & Associates, a Roanoke, Virginia-based developer.
An excessive force lawsuit has been filed in federal court against the City of Charleston, Charleston police detectives, and unnamed Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputies and West Virginia State Police troopers. Jerome Pryor, 35, claims he was assaulted while being arrested in March 2022 and pleaded guilty to the felony of fleeing with reckless indifference and the misdemeanor of assault of a law officer.
