An excessive force lawsuit has been filed in federal court against the City of Charleston, Charleston police detectives, and unnamed Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputies and West Virginia State Police troopers. Jerome Pryor, 35, claims he was assaulted while being arrested in March 2022 and pleaded guilty to the felony of fleeing with reckless indifference and the misdemeanor of assault of a law officer.
A Cross Lanes man has been charged with burglary and animal cruelty following an investigation in Poca and will be charged with murder and grand larceny in a Cross Lanes incident. Billy Cadle, 44, of Cross Lanes was in custody, on March 9, 2024, following the investigations, according to a news release from the West Virginia State Police in South Charleston.
