A former grocery store on Charleston’s West Side is on track to becoming a place that provides for both the physical and mental health of the community. Alecia Allen and Dural Miller, co-directors of nonprofit Keep Your Faith, hope to open the store early this year. Eventually, they want to put a therapy clinic on the second floor of the building.
The Teen Drop-In Center, 1410 Fourth Ave. in Charleston, provides a place where teens in need of assistance can grab a shower, wash clothes and get connected with other services. Chris and Crystal Price of Mountain Care Network have recently opened the center to meet the needs of out-of-school youth.
Rev. James Ealy was honored Thursday for his work with the Paul Laurence Dunbar Second Avenue Community Center on Charleston s West Side. Teresa Brown, center director, said Ealy goes above and beyond for the community.
