A Gladstone man, busted with methamphetamine and cannabis at Barney Point, said he was trying to get off the drugs.
Daniel Robert Timms, 44, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday to possessing dangerous drugs and utensils or pipes that had been used.
Police prosecutor Carl Spargo read the facts of Timms’ case to the court and Acting Magistrate Paul Byrnes.
On March 7, about 11.08am, police were patrolling Barney St, Barney Point, when they observed a car parked in a carpark with its windows down but no one in it.
Police approached the vehicle and saw Timms in the back seat lying down.

A Gladstone woman admitted to taking MDMA and smoking cannabis before trying to run from police on a night out.
Robyn Lesley Metcalfe, 53, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday to obstructing police and committing public nuisance.

On March 20 police were tasked to attend the Rocky Glen Hotel in relation to an incident.
Police attended and spoke to security who told them a man and a woman, eventually identified as Metcalfe, had left on foot heading down the Dawson Hwy.

Gladstone police found drugs and a gun after they executed a search warrant on a home in Clinton, a court heard.
Sonny Stones, 60, pleaded guilty to three charges including possessing dangerous drugs, unlawfully possessing restricted drugs and unlawful possession of a category A, B or M weapon.

On March 30, 2021, around 8.55am, police attended Stones’ address in search of a person wanted on a warrant.
Police knocked on the front door of the house and were unable to raise anyone.

Benjamin Michael Smith, 19, pleaded guilty to drink driving Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Gladstone police were conducting patrols on the Dawson Highway, West Gladstone when they observed a Ford Falcon driving extremely slowly on April 17, around 10.35pm.
Police followed the vehicle and subsequently intercepted it on Grayson St, West Gladstone.
Police observed Smith to be the sole occupant of the vehicle and when question he stated he had given his friend a lift to the nightclub and was returning his vehicle.
