Man busted driving high with mum in the car

Premium Content Subscriber only A Gladstone man who was busted drug driving was taking his mother to an appointment, a court heard. John Derek O’Driscoll, 62, pleaded guilty to the charge in the Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Police prosecutor Carl Spargo read the facts of O’Driscoll’s case to the court and Acting Magistrate Paul Byrne. Police intercepted O’Driscoll driving a Toyota wagon on Wyndham Ave, Boyne Island on March 3, around 9.11am. He submitted to a roadside drug test which returned a positive indication for a relevant drug. When questioned, O’Driscoll stated he had smoked cannabis the evening prior to being intercepted by police.

Unlicenced driver cops suspension in court

Howson stated she had not checked recently whether the payments were still going out of her account. Further questioning identified Howson had not checked her mailbox for some time and had changed her email address and phone number recently and failed to notify SPER of the changes. Howson stated she was driving to a friend’s house and could offer no emergent reason for driving on a suspended licence that day. She was issued a notice to appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court in relation to this offence. Howson told the court she was a single parent who was new to the area and had no one to help get her son to school if she was suspended from driving.

Calliope man drove to rodeo after downing 7 drinks

Jake Bruce Williams, 20, pleaded guilty to drink driving before Acting Magistrate Paul Byrne. Police prosecutor Carl Spargo read the facts of the case to the court, which commenced on Saturday, January 23 at 10.15pm. Calliope police were conducting mobile patrols in a marked vehicle of the Calliope showgrounds on Taragoola Rd, Calliope. The Calliope Rodeo was on at the time which included a large carpark and camping area. Police observed an orange Toyota Landcruiser travel up behind police and park beside their vehicle.

Repeat drug offender gets suspended sentence

Premium Content Subscriber only A woman with a prolific drug history narrowly avoided serving jail time after appearing in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Jenny-Anne Nichols, 42, pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs and drug-driving. Police prosecutor Carl Spargo read the facts of Nichols’ case to the court and Magistrate Bevan Manthey. On December 3 last year, about 3.25pm, Nichols was intercepted driving a Honda wagon on the Dawson Hwy, Calliope. She submitted to a roadside drug test which returned a positive result and she was transported to the Calliope Police Station for further questioning. When questioned, Nichols said she had consumed a point of meth at an unknown time and was travelling to Gladstone.

Premium Content Subscriber only A man who verbally abused his partner and breached his domestic violence order, appeared in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday. The man, 66, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to contravening a domestic violence order. Police prosecutor Carl Spargo read the facts of the man s case to the court and Magistrate Bevan Manthey. On April 15, about 5.45pm, police were called to attend a residence on Ann St by the aggrieved who said the defendant was being verbally abusive. On arrival, responding police stood under the high-set home and recorded the defendant while he was unaware they were present.
