Premium Content Subscriber only A man who was arrested by police after attending a birthday celebration at a local nightspot, appeared in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday. The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to contravening a domestic violence order. Police prosecutor Kelvin Boyd read the facts of the man’s case to the court and Acting Magistrate Damian Carroll. There is a current protection order naming the respondent (defendant in the matter) and the aggrieved which specified the respondent cannot follow or approaching within 100 metres of the aggrieved. On May 9, about 12.30am, police attended a nightclub in Gladstone in relation to a man being detained by security for another matter.

Menace to police : Man sentenced after drunken outburst

Premium Content Subscriber only A man whose drunken outburst led to him throwing a plant basket at a police officer appeared in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Friday. Peter Lee Midgely, 47, pleaded guilty to assault police officer, commit public nuisance and wilful damage of police property. The court heard that on October 18, 2020, police were called to an address in New Auckland regarding a disturbance. When police arrived they saw Midgely was drunk, however proceeded to obtain his version of events. While police attempted to speak with Midgely, he yelled words to the effect of This f - d - , He s a f - c - and He s a f - w - .

Not my proudest moment : Pub brawler sentenced in court

On February 15, police spoke with the victim who detailed his injuries and made a formal complaint. The victim sustained injuries including bruising around his eyes, a broken nose, pain to his ribs and a deep laceration which extended along his left shin. Findling told police on the night of the incident he was heavily intoxicated and had consumed at least 15 drinks. Findling stated he was assaulted by someone prior to the incident and believed the victim he was kicking had been the one who committed the act. Findling added it was not his proudest moment . He was arrested and transferred to the Gladstone watch-house where he was bailed to attend Gladstone Magistrates Court.
