Gates carjacking murder suspect, 16, wanted for stealing cars in Florida

(WHEC)  Edgar Tolentino, one of the 16-year-olds accused of murdering Richard Sciascia during an attempted carjacking on April 7, is wanted for stealing two cars near Tampa, Florida a month before the murder. “This is going to be lengthy. Get your pens ready,” Gates Police Chief Jim Vanbrederode said at a news conference Monday.  At a news conference Monday, the chief laid out the timeline of Tolentino prior to and just after the murder of Sciascia. February: Edgar Tolentino went to Hillsborough County, Florida, with an 18-year-old girl, to visit family. Feb. 28: Tolentino is accused of stealing a car from a seller he lured to a Walmart parking lot. Police say he stole a Toyota after asking to take the car on a test drive.

News Conference at 10am Surrounding Carjacking Homicide

May 3, 2021 Police in Gates have scheduled a 10 a.m. news conference to discuss the arrests in last month s homicide on Buell Road, and the recent violence in the region. A second teenager surrendered Friday to face charges in the shooting death of 71-year-old Richard Sciascia (shah-shah) during an attempted carjacking on April 7th. Anthony Jacobs pleaded not guilty Friday to a murder charge. Alleged accomplice Edgar Tolentino was arrested earlier. Both are 16.  

Gates Police Looking For Second Suspect in Deadly Attempted Carjacking

Apr 29, 2021 Gates Police say they are looking for a teen in connection with the deadly attempted carjacking on Buell Road in Gates on April 7th. Police say they are looking for 16-year-old Anthony Jacobs in connection with the shooting death of Richard Sciascia. Jacobs is described as being six foot one and weighing 170lbs. 16-year-old Edgar Tolentino was arrested and charged with second degree murder in the case last week. Anyone with information is asked to call Gates Police.

Apr 30, 2021 Gates Police are looking for a 16-year-old in connection with a deadly attempted carjacking earlier this month.Police say Anthony Jacobs, 16, is wanted for murder in the death of Richard Sciascia. Sciascia was fatally shot on Buell Road on April 7 during a carjacking attempt in broad daylight. The incident followed a string of carjacking cases around the Rochester area. Another teenager, 16-year-old Edgar Tolentino, was arrested earlier this month and charged with second-degree murder. He is being held without bail. Jacobs is described as 6’1” and 170 pounds.Police say Jacobs is still believed to be in the area. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Gates Police at (585) 247-2262.

16-year-old pleads not guilty to murder in Gates attempted carjacking case

The Multi-Agency Carjacking Task Force and the United States Marshalls Office Fugitive TASK Force had spent the last week Sciascia was shot and killed in an attempted carjacking on Buell Road in his car on Buell Road in Gates on April 7. The 71-year-old grandfather was on his way to visit his son at the time. News10NBC obtained  the felony complaint that alleges another 16-year-old, Edgar Tolentino, shot and killed  Sciascia. Tolentino s preliminary hearing was canceled Wednesday because the grand jury voted to indict him on at least one felony. The charge will be revealed when the grand jury rises.
