More foster parents needed in Monroe County

More foster parents needed in Monroe County Monroe County Children & Youth s foster care unit says children are being placed into foster care, but there aren t enough foster parents. Author: Amanda Eustice (WNEP) Updated: 5:57 PM EDT August 4, 2021 STROUDSBURG, Pa. For more than 21 years, Glorianna Medina of East Stroudsburg has been fostering children, and she doesn t plan to stop. The most important thing for me is belonging, a sense of belonging. Offering that to a child during a time that s very difficult, Medina said. I think there s a lot of misconceptions/ I think there is a lot of damage control that comes with it, but at the same time, we re talking about a child.

Community leaders say group effort is needed to address violence

WHECTV Created: May 25, 2021 01:11 PM ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) Members of the Stop the Violence campaign are calling on the community to step up and help end the recent surge of violence in Rochester. The group says it wants to see a bigger focus on helping the city s youth. Organizers  pointed to the incident at the Monroe County Children s Detention Center over the weekend as proof of the issues that the age group is facing in the county. It s just not the police, it s not just the parents the family, it s just not the school. it s just not the church, organizer Clay Harris said.  But it s all of us as a community because a lot of these young people don t have a role model or even a parent.
