Woman awaiting trial in son s death accused of stealing money from employer

WHECTV Created: July 06, 2021 09:29 PM ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) A Rochester woman charged in connection with the death of her 3-year-old son was arrested again. Gates Police arrested 29-year-old Andrea Lipton Tuesday after she allegedly stole $300 in cash from her employer, a restaurant in Gates. Lipton is awaiting trial on a second-degree manslaughter charge in the death of her son, Kei Mere Marshall. Lipton allegedly failed to seek medical help for him before he died in July 2020.  Andrew Lipton Gates Police Department Lipton s boyfriend, 33-year-old Anthony Love, is accused of physically abusing Marshall, leading to his death. Love is charged with murder and manslaughter.

Local police departments, city officials react to governor s plan to combat gun violence

Created: July 06, 2021 11:19 PM ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) Local police departments and city officials are weighing in after Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued the first-in-the-nation executive order Tuesday, declaring a disaster emergency over gun violence.  The governor said it s the first step in a seven-point plan that aims to combat the surge in gun violence across the state, which has now reached the status of an epidemic.  News10NBC spoke with various law enforcement agencies who say they agree with Cuomo’s idea to fight this issue like they did and are doing with the COVID-19 pandemic, but some city leaders say one size doesn t fit all.

Gates Police: Armed man robbed victim at ATM

Created: July 02, 2021 03:29 PM ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) The Gates Police Department urges everyone to be aware of their surroundings at night after a man was robbed at gunpoint at a drive-up ATM.  Police tell News10NBC the victim did the right thing by complying with the robber and handing over the cash. The robbery happened at a stand-alone ATM on the 1300 block of Chili Avenue. Sgt. David Kaiser says a masked, hooded male approached the victim early Friday morning and robbed him at gunpoint. Investigators say video of the incident shows the suspect had their finger on the trigger.  He had the male empty his bank account, or at least as much money as he could get out of the bank account, and give it over to the male who s committing the crime, Kaiser said.
