The Helias Cruasders have a list of goals to achieve each season. With last week’s 24-6 win against Jefferson City to claim its fourth consecutive city championship, Helias can mark off the first one. But there’s still more on that list.
The Helias Crusaders finished atop the JV team standings Saturday during the Central Missouri Activities Conference championships at the Crusader Athletic Complex. The Crusaders won six of the 19 events, scoring 157 points. Rock Bridge was runner-up with 150.5 points.
It was unfamiliar territory. For the first time this season, the Helias Crusaders were behind in a game as the Battle Spartans took a 16-10 lead into halftime Friday night at Ray Hentges Stadium. The deficit didn’t last long. Helias scored three touchdowns in the first seven minutes of the third quarter on its way to a 58-16 victory against Battle in Central Missouri Activities Conference play.
