Our breaking news is in Santa Cruz County where a sheriffs deputy is dead after being shot in what investigators say was an ambush attack. They say along with guns, the suspect had improvised explosive devices. Good evening. Im eric thomas. Thanks for joining us. This happened in ben lomond in Santa Cruz County south of san jose. The deputy was married, had one young child and another on the way. Abc7 reporter Lauren Martinez is live in Santa Cruz County with more on guthwiller and the suspect who was caught. Lauren . Reporter eric, the last time Santa Cruz County lost one of their own was in the early 1980s. They said the sergeant was a beloved figure in the department. They are grieving his loss. Police investigating several crime scenes with the crimes all happening during the curfew hours. Bay bys kris sanchez is live for us in downtown san jose to show us and talk about what happened early this morning. Kris . Reporter hi there, marcus. Activity that happened during what was supposed to be those quiet curfew hours overnight. Lets start you off where we now know there was a fight inside the 7eleven store just off campus before 1 00 this morning. San jose police now confirm what witnesses told us they saw which is that several people were stabbed. Police found two men with stab wounds there at the scene near the convenience store. One of them died at the hospital, but Police Say Two other men managed to get themselves to the hospital on their own. They have nonlife threatening stab wounds as well. Homicide investigators are at the active scene. I am here at a different scene where San Jose Police are also investigating the shooting of a suspect by at least one San Jose Police
