If you were near the Golden Gate Bridge yesterday and you heard some musical tones, your ears were not deceiving you. That was the privilege starting to sing. The 83yearold Golden Gate Bridge has been undergoing retrofitting to protect it during high winds. The handrails on the west sidewalk have been replaced with vertical slats to allow more air to flow through. During high wind days like yesterday, the bridge emits whistling sounds that people can hear for miles. Dont worry, its not going to be every day. This is not a new sound that youll be hearing when you wake up in the morning, when you go to bed at night. Can it sing happy birthday to me . We might have to bring on a harmonics expert on the staff to see if we can make it sing take requests. We can count on it singing happy birthday any time soon, but we did have enough wind the last couple days to make those tones. Lets check in now for the Current Conditions with meteorologist frances lawson. Eric, the wind has been so strong the past couple days or so. I want to show you live doppler 7. Its very clear out there, but check out conditions right now. They actually have decreased a little bit. Were down to 21 Miles Per Hour right now in San Francisco. 22 in Half Moon Bay. But in the higher elevations, winds are still very gusty. In fact, at mount tamalpais, theyre gusting up to 41 Miles Per Hour, mt. Diablo still at 36 Miles Per Hour, and well see the winds stay with us for another day, bringing us temperatures a little bit below average in some spots. Heres a live beautiful shot, though, as we look out towards the bay bridge and the moon and winds have calmed a little bit. Temperatures are mainly in the 50s. San francisco 55. Oakland still hanging onto 60, though, and we see some upper 50s in redwood city and san jose mid 50s and gilroy and pacifica. Im taking you across the bay to look at the bay bridge in San Francisco. We have mostly clear skies, but notice the camera bouncing around a little bit. So were still going to deal with those winds for another day. More temperatures for you also in the 50s. 53, santa rosa, petaluma, mid to concnd livermore. Parts aai i want to show you the forecast pelong the cor 20 to 30 Miles Per Hour. It dies down a little bit in the after, Early Morning and the afternoon to evening and picks up again. And check out the winds at point reyes. 43 Miles Per Hour. Even Half Moon Bay and San Francisco, want to fly a kite, it might be a good idea to head to the beaches and do that. It will still be breezy inland around the bay near 20 to 30 Miles Per Hour in some areas tomorrow afternoon. So tonights lows will be dropping into the 50s. We could even see a few sprinkles, up through clover dale and ukiah. Lake port. This is due to a system in the north that brought us the breezy conditions as well. And highs tomorrow will be mainly in the 60s to low 70s. San francisco 65. Again, windy conditions all throughout the day at the beaches. San rafael 70. Oakland 70 as well, as well as san jose. The warm est inland areas will hit the mid 70s tomorrow afternoon, like fairfield and antioch and mostly Clear Conditions with plenty of sunshine. In fact, were going to get a lot more sunshine through the rest of the week. So heres an example. In concord, our high will be 74. Were going to be in the mid 90s by wednesday. So tuesday, wednesday, thursday will be the warmest days of the week. Thats because the winds will ease. High pressure will build. And well get a weaker on shore flow. So mondays when we start to see the lighter winds and the temperatures warm up, we really heat up inland on tuesday, hitting the 90s. The warmest day will be wednesday, mid 90s inland, around the bailo 80s. And at the coast mid to upper 60s. Then the cooling begins and well see a cooling trend into next weekend. Eric .
