Cope, Forbes, McCoy Named ACC Performers of the Week

CLEMSON, S.C.  Three Clemson athletes took home ACC Performer of the Week honors for their efforts at the Clemson Opener on Friday, Dec. 2. Daniel Cope (Men's Field), Marie Forbes (Women's Field) and Wanya McCoy (Men's Track) were all recognized for their exceptional performances, the conference announced on Tuesday. Wanya McCoy | Freshman | 300 Meter, 60 Meter McCoy dazzled in the season's first competition, breaking a school and facility record in the 300 meters with his incredible time of 32.53 seconds. That mark is good for third-best in NCAA history. He also took first place in the 60 meters at the event after posting a qualifying time of 6.69, which currently ranks fourth nationally. Tigers Start Strong at ACC Championships

DURHAM, N.C.  The opening day of the 2022 championships proved promising for the Clemson track and field program, as several Tigers earned spots in the finals for their respective events. Most notably, three Tigers will compete in the 200 meter dash championship on Saturday, and Jevon Williams secured the fastest time in the 400 meter hurdles, putting him in a tie for tenth on Clemson's all-time top-10 list for the event. HIGHLIGHTS Three Tigers qualified for the 200 meter dash finals. Wanya McCoy set a personal best 20.64 and finished second in prelims. Guinove Joanus's 20.84 time sent him through to finals while Cameron Rose followed just behind with 20.85. Stona Sets School Record on Final Day of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.  The 126th iteration of the Penn Relays concluded on Saturday as several Tigers earned the opportunity to compete for championships to close out what was an extremely impressive weekend for Clemson's track and field program. Most notably, Rojé Stona broke his own school record in the discus throw and set the new mark at 65.11 meters.
