Putra Brand Awards set to name winners

Creativity still riding high

Commenting on creativity, Ensemble Worldwide & UM Studios executive creative director Didi Pirinyuang told StarBiz that it really depends on how creativity is defined. She said there are textbook intellectual and artistic definitions, but the industry’s landscape has evolved to a point where creativity is not just about the output, but also in the “how”. 

 PETALING JAYA: Despite talent shortage in the local advertising industry, the high creativity level in the industry has not been compromised. Creativity, among others, involves solving a brand’s problem and how it can help drive business goals for clients rather than merely winning awards.

New initiatives all set to boost industry

PETALING JAYA: The marketing communications industry is set to thrive with various initiatives being undertaken to spur its growth. Media Specialists Association (MSA) is collaborating at several fronts in a bid to put the industry on a higher level. MSA president Chanchal Chakrabarty (pic) speaking to StarBiz said it is playing an active part in industry initiatives by partnering with authorities and other associations. For example, he said in the area of single currency for video measurement, MSA as a key stakeholder and user, is working closely with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) (pic below) and other stakeholders to take it to fruition.

Leaving behind a legacy

CEO Tony Savarimuthu is leaving. KUALA LUMPUR: Dentsu Malaysia (formerly Dentsu Aegis Network) is bidding an emotional farewell to three veteran partners of Merdeka LHS, the creative agency it acquired in 2016. They are its CEO Tony Savarimuthu, and chief creative officers Huang Ean Hwa and Szu H. Lee. Former CEO of dentsu Malaysia Nicky Lim and new CEO Tan Kien Eng are both grateful for everything these three have done in building, growing, and subsequently completing the earnout duration of Merdeka LHS and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours. “As these three ride into the sunset, their everlasting legacy has been imprinted into dentsu’s DNA and it is my honour to have served with them, ” said Lim.(pic below)
