Shepherd Fires Opening Round 69, Tigers In 10th Position CLEMSON, S.C. – Junior Ivy Shepherd led the way in the opening round of The Clover Cup with a three-under 69 to place her in a tie for third. As a unit, the Tigers wrapped up the first 18 holes of competition with a 299 team total (11-over), placing them 10th among the field.  The event, which is being hosted by Arizona State on the 6,184-yd, par 72 Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz., is led by Arizona after the first round of action. The Wildcats fired an opening round 281 as a group to place themselves two strokes ahead of second place UNLV and five shots ahead of Houston.

Extra Time: Isaiah Reid In the lead-up to the 2021 MLS SuperDraft, excitement filled the air around the Clemson men’s soccer program, as many players on the fall roster cluttered mock drafts in the days leading up to Jan. 22. Following a historic draft day for the program, reality settled in, as Clemson would be without two of its most potent scoring threats when the spring season arrived in March. Nonetheless, the Tigers were ready to compete when the opening whistle was blown on March 7 as the Tigers faced Syracuse thanks to a familiar face stepping into a new role.  Enter Isaiah Reid, a sophomore from nearby Rock Hill, S.C., who spent his first year and a half in Tigertown splitting time between Clemson’s defensive and attacking groups. CLEMSON, S.C.  The Clemson Softball team (14-2, 8-2 ACC) won its 11th straight game, setting a program record, in an 8-0 victory over Furman (4-9, 0-0 SoCon) at McWhorter Stadium Friday evening. Clemson’s Marissa Guimbarda smacked a two-run homer – the 40th of her career – to left field to end the game in the bottom of the sixth. Clemson ace Valerie Cagle, the ACC’s leader in wins, improved to 9-1 in the circle, in her third complete-game shutout of the season. The second-year freshman held Furman hitless for the first 3.0 innings of Friday’s contest. Cagle and the Tigers recorded 16 of Clemson’s 18 outs within the infield, including four strikeouts.

Clemson Advances Three to NCAA Finals Friday  FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Laurie Barton, Trishauna Hemmings and Terryon Conwell each advanced out of their respective preliminary heats during Friday’s action at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. On Saturday, Barton will be competing in her second career NCAA indoor final, while Hemmings and Conwell will each compete in their first. “We’re excited to have three athletes advance in three events,” said Clemson’s Director of Track & Field, Mark Elliott. “While we hoped to have had six athletes advance, these are the top 16 athletes in the nation for each event and we’re happy with the three we have moving on.”
