Pawley’s Island, S.C. – Following a 290 (+2) second round, Clemson sits in sixth (+11, 587) after the first two rounds of the ACC Championship at the 6,212-yard, par-72 Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island. Clemson is just two shots out of fourth after two rounds, with the top four teams following Friday’s round making it to the match play portion of the weekend.The Tigers had a disappointing first round, finishing +9 (297) over the first 18 holes. The tournament begins Thursday, April 14, and concludes Sunday, April 17, and will feature three rounds of stroke play on Thursday (two rounds) and Friday (one round) before match play begins on Saturday. The top four teams following stroke play will advance to the match-play semifinals on Saturday with the finals being contested on Sunday.Clemson brings along a lineup of Katherine Schuster, Savannah Grewal, Melena Barrientos, Callista Rice, and Gabriella Tomanka. Course conditions again proved challenging for the field, which included 13 ranked teams, as no team finished below par for any round, and only three players broke par in the final round. The Tigers finished 16-over-par on the day, 12 shots better than Saturday, and closed with a 48-over-par 912 team score. Ingrid Lindblad’s birdie on 17 gave LSU the team title at 27-over-par by one stroke over Illinois. Lindblad was the lone player under par for the tournament, claiming medalist honors by five strokes with rounds of 74-70-68-212 (-4). On Sunday, Freshman Melena Barrientos led the Tigers with a 74 (+2), while Annabelle Pancake turned in a three-over-par 75. The No. 34 Tigers finished ahead of 11 ranked teams after the first round. Savannah Grewal led Clemson individually, finishing with a 70 (-2) to sit in a tie for third. The Mississauga, Ontario, native fought the wind to birdie two of her last three holes to finish under par. Annabelle Pancake finished at +1, sitting in a tie for 15th, while Callista Rice finished even on the back nine to shoot a 74 on the afternoon (+2) and sit in a tie for 21st. Melena Barrientos (75) is tied for 30th and Katherine Schuster finished tied for 96th (82).
