Islamabad : Hearing a petition against implementation of Medical Teaching Institutes (MTI) Ordinance, the Islamabad Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday ordered a halt to all new appointments under the new ordinance, and instructed that the court be informed before making any such appointment.
The court also directed that the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) be made a party in the petition and ordered that no action be taken against the existing staff of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), who have been resisting the implementation of MTI for two months now. ....

Islamabad: The Grand Health Alliance (GHA) Tuesday announced its intention to prevent the newly appointed director of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) from entering the hospital premises for three months.
The announcement was made on the 58th day of the ongoing protest of PIMS employees against the Medical Teaching Institutes (MTI) Ordinance. The protesters chanted slogans against MTI and the Board of Governors, and raised serious objections against both the former executive director of PIMS as well Dean MTI Dr. Rizwan Taj; the latter initially supported the PIMS employeesâ protest against MTI and pledged not to join MTI, but later joined it. ....

Islamabad:Intense measures will have to be adopted as the government’s inability to appease the demands of employees seeking withdrawal of the MTI Ordinance is leaving the Federal Grand Health Alliance (FGHA) will no option but to adopt a path that could spell disaster.
The Chairman of FGHA Dr. Asfandyar expressed these views while addressing protesters at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) here on the 54th day of their continuing strike.
“The MTI Ordinance has been included in the list to be tabled in the National Assembly. We will finalise our future strategy, depending on what happens in the National Assembly; this may include intense measures as we find ourselves left with no option,” Dr. Asfandyar said. ISLAMABAD: Around 10,000 patients would suffer daily as the employees of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on Thursday decided to discontinue all indoor services as a part of their ongoing protest against the medical teaching institution (MTI) ordinance.
However, they said the Covid-19 and emergency wards would remain open.
Moreover, Senate Standing Committee on Interior Chairman Senator Rehman Malik took notice of the privatisation of Pims and sought a report from the secretary Ministry of Interior along with comments from the secretaries health and Privatisation Commission. ....
