ISLAMABAD: The main opposition parties, PML-N and PPP, Sunday expressed serious reservations over the election results in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) and accused the PTI-led government of systematic rigging in the election for the Legislative Assembly.
Two people were killed due to clashes between political activists and several others were injured.
However, AJK Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdul Rasheed Sulheria told the media during a polling station visit that polling remained peaceful at 99 percent polling stations, as he had been receiving reports. Some minor incidents of violence and stoppage of polling were reported to him at a few polling stations and he was taking cognizance of them and due process of law would be applied to ensure transparency of polling, he promised.

Glowing tributes were paid to late Chairman Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir and prominent leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Muhammad Ashraf Khan Sehrai at a webinar organised by Tehreek-e-Kashmir (TeK) UK chapter.
President TeK UK Raja Fahim Kayani said that Sehrai was an icon of ongoing liberation movement in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and laid his life for the sacred Kashmir cause.
“Sehrai s custodial killing demonstrates that Indian occupation regime is adamant to use all available tools to subjugate the people of IIOJK into submission. But the sacrifice of Sehrai testifies that no matter what, India can never break the will of the Kashmiri leadership,” the TeK president said.

ISLAMABAD: A National Assembly session, convened to debate the resolution tabled for the sanctity of prophethood, was adjourned indefinitely without debate after Opposition lawmakers protested.

As the house met, the Opposition lawmakers requested Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri to allow them to speak on the point of order. Suri refused, saying that the question and answer session should be concluded first.

It is an alliance that was established to achieve objectives of serious nature at the national level and not for fighting over some offices, said the Maulana, adding that for them, the future of democracy and politics in Pakistan is more important, reported Dawn.

ISLAMABAD: Chief of his own faction of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman has asked the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP) to “reconsider” their decision of quitting the opposition’s alliance and declared that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will continue its struggle to achieve its objectives even if the two parties do not return to its fold.
“They (PPP and ANP) still have an opportunity to review their decisions and approach the PDM. We can remove their grievances when we will sit together,” said the Maulana while talking to reporters after presiding over the first meeting of the alliance after withdrawal of PPP and ANP from the alliance here on Tuesday.
