According to CZU Calfire, one fire is off Freedom Boulevard in Watsonville and one is in the Boulder Creek area off of Highway 9.PG&E Webcam LATEST Jan. 20, 10:45 a.m. Cal Fire said it hopes to have seven small wildfires burning in northern Santa Cruz and southern San Mateo counties contained by the end of the day Wednesday amid favorable weather conditions. That s contained, not controlled, Cal Fire spokesperson Cecile Juliette said. We hope to have all of them controlled by this weekend. Contained is when they re able to get a fire line around the entire fire, so they can keep it within a certain area. Newsom over outdoor dining closures FacebookTwitterEmail Upset with the state s decision to shut down outdoor dining this past December, a consortium of over 50 restaurants, wineries, tasting rooms and suppliers across Napa and Sonoma counties has filed a lawsuit Tuesday against California Gov. Gavin Newsom, The Chronicle reported. The group of restaurant owners says there is no rational basis for the ban on outdoor dining, calling December s order arbitrary, irrational, and unfair. Pointing to the lack of scientific evidence stating that outdoor dining furthers the spread of COVID-19 among other issues with the ban the lawsuit says December s shutdown order constitutes a violation under the California Constitution s equal protection and due process. ....

The Bloom Fire was five acres and zero percent contained as of 7:20 p.m. Here s what we know as of 7 p.m. Tuesday about other fires in Santa Cruz and San Mateo Counties.
