A 74-year-old Paramus, New Jersey skydiver died in the Poconos Sunday after investigators said he was disconnected from his parachute mid-dive.
Edward Harney and three other skydivers jumped from 14,000 feet in the air at Sky s the Limit Inc., a skydiving company in Smithfield Township, Pennsylvania State Police said.
Harney began to spiral and spin once his parachute opened it appeared to separate from him, investigators said. He disappeared into a wooded area east of Airport Road.
According to PSP, Harney was an experienced skydiver who had jumped multiple times at Sky s the Limit Inc. Police found Harney at 11:35 a.m., and the Monroe County Coroner s Office pronounced him dead on the scene.
