lukas the attorney for an emmet county teen accused of shooting another teen this past summer has decided not to seek a change of veunue the attorney for lee christensen filed a notice with the court that he does not seek to move the teen s murder trial out of emmet county at this time, but may do so if he feels that he cannot find an impartial jury. christensen is accused of killing 19-year-old thomas bortvit in june of 2015. lukas authorities in sac county are searching for a man wanted for attmpted murder man with his car. the sac county looking for 36 grove. struck a glidden man with his car on sunday night. the man was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. werneburg is described as a white male. and weighs about 205 pounds. anyone with information on the whereabouts of werneburg is asked to call 911 or the sac county sheriff s office. lukas a sioux city woman is facing several charges after firing a weapon during an argument outside a home monday evening ....
justin stickrod with felony child endangerment and felony sexual abuse. the arrest happened after deputies took a report of an infant being sexually assaulted on february 4. sheriff johnson says stickrod has a minor arrest record, but doesn t have a prior history of sexual abuse arrests. they tell us the mother of the child brought the two-month-old girl to a local hospital. we received a call from monroe county hospital, reference a possible sexual assualt to a 2 and 1/2 month old child. on further investigation, the child was sent to blank s children hospital. mollie: sheriff johnson said the girl is recovering. stickrod is being held in the monroe county jail on a $68,000 bond. turning to other news from around the state. the state fire marshal s office is now calling last months fire at a jefferson pizza ranch a case of arson. the greene county news reports that investigators are seeking surveillance video from a nearby bank as part of the investigation. been repo ....
stacey: right now, the political battle is brewing over the successor to supreme court justice antonin scalia. scalia died this weekend. senate republicans want to wait until after the presidential election to fill the supreme court vacancy. but the president today challenged republicans to explain why they would refuse to consider a supreme court candidate. pres. obama: one court where we would expect elected officials to rise above day to day politics. and this will be the opportunity for senators to do their jobs. stacey: iowa senator charles grassley heads the senate judiciary committee. he wouldn t say today whether or not he would schedule hearings in the senate if president obama appoints a nominee. the senator would only say he will take it one step at a time. said senator senator grassley i think that it should wait : until the next election, and i believe that that s the right important position and would be kind of in line with what democratic leaders said ....
