Managing editor WEIRTON Speeding issues and residential parking permits were the focus before the city’s Traffic Commission Thursday. Commissioners continued a discussion, tabled from their March meeting, concerning speeding and public safety concerns along a portion of Marland Heights Road. The commission was asked to look into the issue at the request of a resident at 325 Marland Heights Road. Police Chief Charlie Kush said he had reviewed records and found reports of two incidents in recent years where a vehicle went into the property in question. “Snow was part of one and the other was a DUI,” Kush said. ....

Norwell Recreation to host fishing derby COURTESY OF NORWELL RECREATION The 2021 Norwell Recreation Fishing Derby has been rescheduled to May 22 due to town meeting being shifted to May 8. The event is free for all participants however, to control the amount of participants, online pre-registration will be required for one of three one hour time slots. The slots are 6:30 to 7:30 a.m., 8 to 9 a.m. and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The event will be limited to Norwell residents only. The Fishing Derby is scheduled to be held rain or shine. Participants should bring their own rod, tackle and bucket. Kayaks and non-motorized boats are allowed. ....
