Covid-19 (Feb 22): 2,192 new cases, more than half in Klang Valley Published Modified22 Feb 2021, 11:03 am A The Klang Valley made up more than half of the new cases today. Other states with more than 100 new cases include Sarawak, Johor, Perak, Penang and Sabah. On the flip side, the number of active cases continued to decline as recoveries outpaced new cases. Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah reported a total of 3,414 new recoveries today. The number of patients in the intensive care unit is also at the lowest level since Jan 14. Covid-19 (Feb 21): New cases inch above 3,000 again, big spike in Perak Published Modified21 Feb 2021, 11:15 am A - COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 3,297 new Covid-19 cases, breaching the 3,000-mark for the first time in eight days. The uptick was fuelled by a significant spike in Perak which recorded 1,215 new cases. This was the first time Perak recorded four-digit new cases in a day during the third wave of the pandemic. The previous record was 245 new cases on Jan 21. Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, in a statement, said the spike was due to the Jalan Changkat Jong cluster which comprised 86.1 percent of the new cases in Perak today. ....

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 1,939 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 115,227. In a statement Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 151,066. ADVERTISEMENT There are 35,253 active cases with 204 patients receiving intensive care, of which 87 require respiratory assistance. Meanwhile, the eight deaths raises the toll to 586. Of the new cases today, only five were imported while 3,206 were local infections. The eight fatalities involved seven Malaysians and one foreigner, with four deaths reported in Selangor, two in Sabah and one each in Johor and Kedah. ....
