Covid: 27 schools in Johor closed

JOHOR BAHRU: A total of 27 schools in Johor had to be closed after Covid-19 positive cases were detected among staff, pupils and students.
The closure involves 10 religious schools and 17 primary, secondary and vernacular schools.
State Education, Information, Heritage and Culture Committee chairman Mazlan Bujang said all 17 schools under the Education Ministry had been closed in stages over the past three days.
“The one-week closure is to allow all quarters involved to undergo Covid-19 screening and to give way for the sanitisation process.
“The public doesn’t have to worry because the situation is still under control,” he told Bernama, when contacted, today. ....

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 3,297 new Covid-19 cases, breaching the 3,000-mark for the first time in eight days.
The uptick was fuelled by a significant spike in
Perak which recorded 1,215 new cases.
This was the first time Perak recorded four-digit new cases in a day during the third wave of the pandemic. The previous record was 245 new cases on Jan 21.
Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, in a statement, said the spike was due to the Jalan Changkat Jong cluster which comprised 86.1 percent of the new cases in Perak today. ....
