Covid-19: Eight deaths, 3,211 cases (Updated)

15 Jan 2021 / 18:51 H. PETALING JAYA: A total number of 3,211 new Covid-19 cases were recorded by the Health Ministry today, bringing the total number of active cases to 35,253. The national tally now stands at 151,066. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the majority of today’s cases stemmed from local transmissions (3,206 cases) while five were imported. Selangor had the most number of cases today with 889 where 127 individuals were detected in the new Jalan Telok Gong and Lintaran Lintang clusters with an imported case while Johor recorded 535 cases with 80 from the new Persiaran Selatan, Jalan Kluang and Kampung Perani cluster. Sabah recorded a total of 514 cases with 48 individuals hailing from the new Ladang Baturong and Ladang Matamba cluster while Kuala Lumpur recorded a total of 401 cases today with 130 cases from the new Tapak Bina Damai cluster.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 1,939 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 115,227. In a statement Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 151,066. ADVERTISEMENT There are 35,253 active cases with 204 patients receiving intensive care, of which 87 require respiratory assistance. Meanwhile, the eight deaths raises the toll to 586. Of the new cases today, only five were imported while 3,206 were local infections. The eight fatalities involved seven Malaysians and one foreigner, with four deaths reported in Selangor, two in Sabah and one each in Johor and Kedah.
