CLEMSON, S.C. – The men’s and women’s track team rounded out the first leg of the championship portion of the indoor season schedule with the ACC Indoor Championships on Saturday at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex.
The Irish competed well in the final day of the conference competition, finding their way to three All-ACC honors, four personal bests, and one season best performance between the men and women.
Sophomore Michael Shoaf and senior John Stefan kicked off the day for the Irish in the men’s shot put. Shoaf finished ninth with a season best mark of 17.15m and Stefan’s 16.33m effort was good for 12th place.

CLEMSON, S.C. - The Clemson track and field program will welcome its ACC competitors to the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex for the 2021 ACC Indoor Championships from Feb. 25-27. Action is slated to get underway at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, as the 60 meters will be contested as part of the men’s heptathlon. The meet will be broadcast live on ACCNX from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Fans can find all of the relevant information for this weekend’s conference championships in our Meet Central. Clemson arrives at the ACC Indoor Championships after setting two school records, 11 top-10 all-time program marks, and 118 lifetime personal bests across the season’s first six meets. “This season shows how resilient our athletes are,” said Clemson’s Director of Track & Field, Mark Elliott. “I think we’re at a point where both teams are as ready as they can be for the championships, so I’m excited about it.” Thursday’s
Veronica Fraley returned to competition for the first time since last season’s indoor conference championships, contesting the invitational section of the women’s shot put on Saturday. Fraley recorded a mark of 15.20 meters (49-10.5) on her second attempt of the competition, a mark that withstood the remaining four rounds and secured the junior fifth place overall. Fraley eclipsed the 15-meter mark on three of her six attempts Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Jack McManus had a breakthrough performance in his collegiate debut at 3k Saturday afternoon, running 8:39.77. The Doylestown, Pa. native entered Clemson with a personal best of 9:06.24 earned during his time at Central Bucks East High School. McManus used consistent 34-second splits during the opening 2k to put himself in a position to contend for the victory. A blistering sub-30-second final lap comfortably secured McManus the second-place finish in the event.
The Liberty men s and women s indoor track & field teams will compete in their lone road meet of the 2021 regular season, the Bob Pollock Invitational, Friday and Saturday at the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex in Clemson, S.C. The Flames and Lady Flames will square off against a number of ACC and SEC opponents, along with ASUN rival Kennesaw State.
Liberty s first event of the weekend will be the men s 60 hurdles prelims, set for Friday at 2:20 p.m. Saturday s events will get started with the women s shot put at 10:30 a.m.
