The Hamilton County Health Department will hold a drive-through vaccination clinic tomorrow from 9 to noon at the McLeansboro Fire Department. The department will use the gravel parking lot by the tennis courts at the Hamilton County High School as a staging area, and people should go to that location for lineup. Like last week, this is a first-come, first-serve event, and no reservations can be made. 27-year-old Xenia resident Dakota S. Morgan was sentenced to three years in prison yesterday in Wayne County Circuit Court by Judge Michael Molt, though the sentence was stayed until May 4 th. He admitted in August to violating his probation for a count of possession of meth. Morgan was credited with 113 days served in jail, and two other cases against him were dismissed. He was also ordered to pay $1,374 in fines and court costs. ....
The Wayne County Health Department will hold a drive-through vaccination clinic for prioritized Phase 1B individuals tomorrow. People should enter the staging area at the Wayne County Fairgrounds by its east entrance on West Main Street, and gates will open at 8. People should not go directly to the department, and no reservations for vaccines will be taken. The department receives a limited amount of vaccine for each first round of shots. The CDC will ship second doses separately, and people who are due a second dose will be contacted directly with a clinic date and time. Fairfield police arrested 30-year-old Fairfield resident Feleishaa A.J. McKinney yesterday afternoon on a charge of retail theft. McKinney was booked in the Wayne County Jail and released after being given a notice to appear in court. ....
25-year-old Brodey I. Murbarger had a motion hearing via Zoom in Wayne County Circuit Court this morning. His attorney, Christian J. Baril, had filed a motion to allow him access to a computer or electronic device to review discovery materials for the case. State’s Attorney Kevin Kakac argued against the motion, saying the jail isn’t set to up store any such device or discs or provide a private room for a defendant to use them. Judge Michael Molt noted the uniqueness of the case and eventually granted the motion- but with restrictions. He said the device would have to be brand-new, and it would have to be examined by an IT specialist to ensure it only had software to allow for the reading and viewing of discovery materials and could not, for instance, access the Internet or communicate with any other device. He also said Sheriff Mike Everett and jail staff would be responsible for determining a reasonable time limit for Murbarger to access the device. ....
45-year-old Ronald D. Jolly and 42-year-old Desiree E. Van Heule were booked in the Wayne County Jail early this morning after an incident on West Water Street in Fairfield. They are accused of attacking people in a stopped car; Jolly faces charges of aggravated battery and resisting peace officers, and Van Heule was charged with vehicular invasion. They were held, pending an appearance before a judge to set bond. The Wayne County Farm Bureau Foundation plans to offer eight $750 scholarships to county students who plan on majoring in an ag-related field of study in the fall 2021 semester.
