Alltown Fresh will open its doors in Middlebury today.
The location will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., unveiling a fresh new take on food-to-go. Alltown Fresh, which is conveniently located at the Shell gas station on Middlebury Road, bills its menu as “fresh and healthy,” said Martha Sullivan, spokesperson for the company, “with lots of options for vegetarian, gluten-free, vegan and more.”
Alltown Fresh has made-to-order meals to suit many dietary needs and lifestyles, with options for organization and locally-sourced ingredients. The convenience store also features favorites like kombucha on tap, fresh blended smoothies, and custom blend, single origin and fair trade coffee. ....

Stockton’s Asparagus Festival Is Now ‘San Joaquin Asparagus Days’ Starting May 13

Stockton’s Asparagus Festival was canceled last year, another victim of the pandemic. But the festival has been rebranded as San Joaquin Asparagus Days and starts May 13 for a four-day run.
The Asparagus Festival has been an annual event since 1985. It was last celebrated at the San Joaquin Fairgrounds in Stockton, but will move to the Stockton 99 Speedway. 
Live bands, a wine and beer pavilion, and of course tons and tons of asparagus will be on hand.
Festival promoter Tony Noceti says deep fried asparagus is still the favorite but there are plenty of other dishes to feast on, from asparagus ice cream to asparagus smoothies.  ....
