After two years, the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee is back with a whole new look.
For its big return, the homecoming event s theme is Back in the Saddle Again and begins Thursday, May 13 through Sunday, May 16.
Although this homecoming event is different than the traditional county fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee, it will feature some of its classic events like the marketplace, local horse events, the Miss Calaveras Scholarship Pageant, Saddle Queen competition, and kiddie carnival.

The past year has been unlike anything anyone could have imagined, a year of isolation, economic hardship and an unfathomable loss of life. Last week marked a somber moment for San Joaquin County: the one-year anniversary of the coronavirus pandemic, the “greatest collective challenge of our generation.” “It really makes me think of all the lives affected by those losses,” public health officer Dr. Maggie Park told the Board of Supervisors as they looked back on a year that changed the world, possibly forever.
STOCKTON Asparagus lemonade, elote style asparagus, strawberry and asparagus smoothies are just some of the new items that will be at the rebranded San Joaquin Asparagus Days celebration this year.
Last year s event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and sudden lockdowns. San Joaquin Asparagus Days, presented by the San Joaquin Asparagus Festival owned by The Noceti Group, announced this week their return with a new name, new location and an extra day this year.
“This is the crown jewel of Stockton and San Joaquin County since 1985, said Tony Noceti, owner of Noceti Group, Inc. and the promoter of The San Joaquin Asparagus Days. Last year, we were two weeks out from having the festival when the virus broke out. So bringing it back and getting it going this year is so important to the community, all the nonprofit groups showcased in Stockton and San Joaquin County.”
