FCSO to upgrade Tasers | News, Sports, Jobs

JOHNSTOWN The Fulton County Sheriff’s Department is upgrading its Tasers. Sheriff Richard Giardino recently requested permission to enter into a five-year contract with Axon to purchase upgraded Tasers for his department. The contract was tentatively approved by the Board of Supervisors’ Public Safety Committee, with the full board deciding Monday. “A total upgrade would end up costing $41.000,” Giardino said. Between 2016-2020, he said the sheriff’s office purchased and/or maintained nine Tasers for the department at a cost of $26,510 an average of about $5,302 per year. He said the sheriff’s office has a total of $10,600 regarding Tasers in its 2021 budget.

Sex offender pleads in case | News, Sports, Jobs

manich@leaderherald.com JOHNSTOWN A Broadalbin sex offender is going back to jail after failing to verify his address with authorities. Percy Allen, 45, formerly of Fremont Street in Gloversville, pleaded guilty Jan. 11 in Fulton County Court before Judge Polly A. Hoye. He pleaded guilty as part of a plea arrangement to felony failure to verify address within 90 days as a Level 3 sex offender. He currently lives in Broadalbin. Sentencing was adjourned until a later date, but he is expected to receive one year in the Fulton County Correctional Facility. Gloversville police arrested Allen at 4:15 pm. on Nov. 4, 2020. At that time he was charged with failure to register a change of address as a sex offender by city police. At the time, police said that Allen failed to report a change of address within 10 days between Oct. 19 and 29, 2020 as required under the state Sex Offender Registration Act.

Burglar gets one year in county jail | News, Sports, Jobs

manich@leaderherald.com JOHNSTOWN A Gloversville man who admitted to a residential burglary is going to spend a year in the Fulton County Correctional Facility. Emmanuel J. Correa, 24, of 81 Washington St., Apt. 13, pleaded guilty Dec. 8 in Fulton County Court before Judge Polly A. Hoye to one count of third-degree burglary, as part of a plea arrangement. Sentencing will be at a later date, but according to the plea, he is expected to receive a year in the county jail. He also must make restitution and an order of protection will be ordered for his victim. Correa was arrested July 2 by Gloversville police at 4:21 p.m., charged with second-degree burglary.
