Differing opinions over Australia Day debate shows it is not all 'black and white'

Redbridge Group Director Simon Welsh says the Australia Day debate is not all “black and white” as there are multiple groups of people with varying levels of concern for the event.

“There’s a little bit of nuance around it, it’s not all black and white,” Mr Welsh told Sky News Australia.

“There’s a core group of folk who are very supportive, adherence of Australia Day, let’s call them that – that group is now – generally now in the minority, it might be a decent minority, but it’s a minority.

“What we’re seeing is there’s another group comprised of two cohorts, one if people that look at Australia Day now and think about it in terms of the Indigenous story, and that group is growing.

“Then you have got this other group that look at Australia Day and go, you know what, it’s irrelevant.” ....
