Former Victorian Liberal Party President Michael Kroger says Treasurer Jim Chalmers is in “la la land” and people cannot rely on the Labor Party for economic management.
Mr Kroger said he thinks Mr Chalmers has “no idea what he is doing”.
“The Labor Party are great in theory and hopeless in practice, apart from Hawke and Keating who had strict economic understanding,” he told Sky News host Paul Murray. ....
Sky News host Amanda Stoker says there can “only be two possible reasons” why Prime Minister Anthony Albanese refuses to reveal what the details of the proposed Indigenous Voice to Parliament would entail.
“Either he doesn t know because they haven t done the work – itself a dangerous approach that means he s asking for a blank cheque from Australians,” she said.
“Or worse – they know the far-reaching impact it will have, and they don t want you to know.” ....

Council of International Students Aust President Oscar Zi Shao Ong told Sky News Australia the sudden announcement is “too hard” for students to get back and start their studies.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers has produced an essay which appears to discuss more about intervention and pushing the economy in directions the government wants on issues like clean energy, according to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.
“The Australian Financial Review editorialised against this essay this morning with the rather blunt headline that ‘Chalmers new manifesto ignores all the lessons of Hawke and Keating’, suggesting Mr Chalmers was taking up a kind of socialist agenda,” Mr Clennell said.
“I do feel that generally speaking, there is a little bit of tension between Anthony Albanese and Jim Chalmers, with Chalmers pushing policy more to the left than Albanese.
“There is a view in the Labor Party too that Mr Chalmers no doubt has an agenda to appeal to the Labor Party membership in order to one day get their votes for the leadership.” ....
