The game was tight and swung back and forth in the 1 st quarter 5 lead changes and was tied at 13 late in the quarter before Kuemper edged ahead 14-13 at the break. Red Oak scored first in the 2 nd quarter and never trailed the rest of the game. Max DeVries got hot and helped them build the lead to 6. Kuemper brought in a new 5 guys who sparked them and Taye Vonnahme hit a shot from the free throw line tying the game at 23 but Kuemper couldn’t get the lead back. Red Oak led by 3 at half but came out behind DeVries and went up 43-29. John Mayhall scored 8 straight points for Kuemper and then Mitchell Badding who had 9 in the 1 ....
rd win of the season and 2 nd in a row. Catherine Mayhall exploded for 31 points hitting 5 three points and was deadly with runners in the lane. Kyndal Hilgenberg came up big with 13 points as the Knights played without second leading scorer Brooklyn Gifford.
Red Oak built an early 8-2 and 12-6 lead before Catherine Mayhall hit back to back 3’s to close out the 1 st quarter tying the game at 12. The Knights grabbed their first lead early in the 2 nd quarter only to see Red Oak answer and go up 16-14. The Tigers extended the lead to 26-19 before Mayhall and Kyndal Hilgenberg put them up for good. Mayhall drained a 3 to put them up 31-29 and them Hilgenberg knocked down a wing 3 to make it 34-29 and Kuemper would never trail again. Chloe DeVries wasn’t going to let Red Oak go down easy as she hit a pair of 3’s and the Tigers tied the game at 37 at the end of the 3 ....
The Carroll Tigers continued their dominant ways by adding another victory to their undefeated season, beating Boone on Tuesday night. Right out of the gate, the Tigers dominated the Toreadors and never gave up the lead. The Tigers would escape the first quarter scoring 20 points and left Boone with only seven points. In the second quarter, it was much of the same dominant basketball from the top ranked team in the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers left no room for the Toreadors to score leaving them with six points as they would go on to score 14 before the halftime. The lopsided score was in favor of Carroll by a score of 34-13. ....
The Carroll Tigers fought all night against the Raccoon River Conference’s number one team Ballard Bombers, but fell just short of knocking them off. The first quarter would be all Carroll as they would lead for most of the quarter and end with the 9-8 lead. The returning Ella Collison would lead the team with seven points in that quarter. Collison sustained a knee injury after Tuesday’s contest against Winterset, but was feeling great and was scoring great against the Bombers. Heading into the second quarter against the undefeated Bombers, the Tigers would keep the game close to them going into halftime trailing 19-17. Collison would lead all scorers with 10 first half points. Also scoring for the Tigers that half was Gabi Hammer with five points and Camryn Schable with two points. ....
