UPDATE: FEB. 3 AT 5 A.M. Law enforcement recommends school be canceled for East Side Elementary, Sleeping Giant Middle School and Park High School on Thursday, Feb. 4. Authorities say the incident on View Vista Drive remains unresolved and unsafe. Students should not plan on attending any athletic practices or zero-hour classes Thursday, according to law enforcement. Washington and Winans will continue to be fully open with breakfast and lunch served as usual. Their bus schedule will also remain as usual, according to authorities. However, off-site lunches will not be delivered. If the incident on View Vista resolves, or begins to take a positive turn, authorities said they will notify the public by 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.

UPDATE: FEB. 4 AT 4 A.M. After two days, Park County Sheriff Brad Bichler said the armed standoff at View Vista came to an end. According to the Park County Sheriff s Office (PCSO), Marfuta was wounded by law enforcement.  Law enforcement spent two days trying to convince Marfuta to surrender. These types of incidents are rate but high risk to the subject, to Law Enforcement and to the public, Bichler said. I appreciate the communities support and understanding. It allowed us to use time to our advantage. Unfortunately, Mr. Marfuta made the decision several times to try and shoot us. When Deputies feel there is an immediate threat to themselves or the public they have a duty to stop that threat.

Armed standoff in Livingston comes to an end Gaby Krevat / MTN News and last updated 2021-02-04 10:34:32-05 (This story has been updated, 6:34 a.m. MDT, 02/04/2021) LIVINGSTON — The Park County Sheriff s Office reported that the armed standoff with 49-year-old Michael Marfuta in Livingston came to an end late Wednesday night. The Sheriff s Office said in a press release the standoff at the View Vista trailer court came to an end around 10 p.m. Wednesday. Marfuta was wounded after shooting at law enforcement, according to the release. Park County Sheriff Brad Bichler said Marfuta made the decision several times to try and shoot us over the course of the standoff that began Tuesday afternoon.
