Diphu, Sep. 9 (EMN): A seminar on the dissemination of government schemes was organised by National Handloom Development Corporation Limited (NHDCL) at the office of Handloom & Textiles department, Rongnihang, on Friday. Executive Member (EM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), in charge Handloom & Textiles, Fisheries and Adult Education, Madhuram Lekthe, said the NHDCL organised the awareness programme to help local weavers and also with a view to upgrade the weaving/handloom sector in Karbi Anglong. “The Handloom department under KAAC is trying to develop the handloom sector by supporting local weavers by providing financial assistance and material to them. Our chief executive member, KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang, always speaks about promoting traditional customs. Our Correspondent Diphu, Aug. 22 (EMN): Weavers conference-cum-ceremonial distribution programme by Handloom and Textiles Department in collaboration with Adult Education Department, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) was held at Joysing Doloi Auditorium in Diphu on Aug. 21. The programme was held to inform weavers about Swa Nirvar Naari scheme for self-sustainability. Chief Executive Member (CEM), KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang, said that a discussion is being held with the weavers of Karbi Anglong on various schemes which would benefit the weaver’s community. He said that the KAAC supports the Handloom & Textiles Department to help weavers with the production of traditional customs so that it can be promoted to the international level.
