My parents thought that teaching would be a good occupation from me. Women were not welcome as doctors, lawyers, and engineers. I realized i was facing an audience that did not know what i was talking about. They understood race discrimination, that was odious. But most men at that time thought that the law was riddled with genderbased distinctions but they operated in the womens favor. Like, a woman did not have to serve on a jury if she did not want to. Reverend register green served walter Memorial Baptist Church in northwest for more than 40 years. He says he applied some of kings philosophies to his own work. Turner sat down with green who said kings outlook had a big impact on his life. He was a freedom writer when he first met dr. Martin luther king jr. He tells me the day he got out of jail was the first time he met him. Looking back at that experience, it was one of the best things that happened to me. He remembers it like it was yesterday. He was a College Student preparing to study theology when he decided to become a freedom writer. Protesting segregation at rail and bus terminals in the deep south.
