Noles Race Tough at Last Chance

Results  ATHENS, Ga. – The No. 21/24 Florida State swimming and diving teams competed at the UGA Last Chance Invite at the Gabrielsen Natatorium. We had some good racing today and it was a great atmosphere, FSU assistant coach Emma Svensson said. We use this meet as an extra opportunity to race and learn. We are excited for some more racing tomorrow. Aryanna Fernandes started the night off, clocking 53.30 in the 100 fly for silver after posting a 53.41 in prelims. The Seminoles had two in the 50 free, led by Rebecca Moynihan in fifth place with a time of 22.66 ahead of Gloria Muzito in ninth. Muzito swam her personal best at 22.98. Pia Murray swam over two seconds faster than her prelim time in the 200 back, touching third at 1:55.66. Maddy Huggins tied for third place in the 100 breast, clocking 1:01.38 and Phoebe Griffiths finished ninth in the 200 free at 1:48.64. The women’s team ended the night off by winning the 200 free relay with a time of 1:30.64, behind Moynihan, Fernand ....

Vargas, Helling Shine in ACC Final

ATLANTA, Ga. – The No. 21/24 Florida State swimming and diving teams opened competition at the 2022 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships on Tuesday at the McAuley Aquatics Center. Men’s divers David Vargas and Jesco Helling highlighted the evening by competing in their first ACC Championship final, while the men’s 800 free relay achieved an NCAA standard. “It was a great first day for us,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “The men getting the NCAA cut in the relay was big and our ladies had a very strong swim. Two divers in the top eight was also great. We’re excited for the rest of the week.” ....
