Noles Place 30 on All-ACC Academic Teams

Tallahassee, Fla.  – The Florida State swimming and diving teams placed 30 student-athletes on the 2023 All-ACC Academic teams. The men’s team produced a league-leading 15 selections, which tied NC State. “We are so proud of our student-athletes that were recognized,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “Florida State is one of the best public schools in the nation and we take pride in holding ourselves to a high academic standard. These 30 Seminoles have represented FSU at the highest level both in our sport and academically and we’re thrilled they’re being recognized for their hard work.” Tazman Abramowicz, Arijus Pavlidi, Nick Mason, Jesco Helling, Izzy Gregersen, Jenny Halden, Maddie McDonald and Anna Metzler also earned CSC (College Sports Communicatiors) Academic All-District Honors for NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving prior to the end of the 2022-23 season. Noles Geared up for Last Chance Invite

  TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  –  The No.18/NR Florida State swimming and diving teams will compete at the Georgia Last Chance Invite on this weekend at the Gabrielsen Natatorium at the University of Georgia. The Seminoles will look for one final push to qualify for the NCAA Championships in March. “We’re excited to race and see if we can get a couple more to nationals,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “They have looked great all week and we’re ready to go.” Prelims will start at 10 a.m., on Saturday and Sunday, with finals following at 5 p.m., on Saturday. Yanchev Wins Bronze at ACC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C.  –  Florida State men’s swimmer Yordan Yanchev brought home the bronze medal in the 500 free on the second night of the 2023 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. In addition to Yanchev, Peter Varjasi finished fourth in the 200 IM and Samantha Vear was also fourth in the women’s 1-meter diving event. “It was a great evening,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “They really stepped up in the pool and supported each other. It was one of the most fun evenings I have been a part of. I am so proud of them.” Yanchev was just off his season best in the 500 free in prelims (4:15.02), qualifying fifth at 4:16.79. Noles Head to LSU Saturday

Tallahassee, Fla.  – The No. 16/RV Florida State swimming and diving teams will hit the road to face NR/No. 25 LSU on Saturday at 11 a.m., at the LSU Natatorium. The 16th-ranked men enter the contest 2-1 with victories over Florida Southern and Georgia Tech, while the RV women boast a 5-1 record with wins over FSC, North Florida, West Florida, Georgia Tech, and Miami. Both squads fell to No. 10/9 Georgia. “We’re looking forward to getting back into dual meets,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “LSU has a very good team. They have a couple of Olympic gold medalists on both sides, so we’ll have our hands full. We’re looking to compete hard with them and see what we can do after finishing our great training block of the season.” The meet will follow the 16-event format with teams racing in the 100’s and 200’s of each stroke in addition to the 50, 500, 1000 (1650) free, as well as the 200 IM.
